    Description

Up for sale is a extremely rare paper oil lamp produced by the L. H. Thomas manufacturing company based out of Chicago IL and famous for the paper bottle invention back in 1885 for ink.  Quite the new wave back in the day I did find a patent for the paper oil lamp which was granted in 1899 so the lamp would have been produced before that date because the label says pat applied for.  You will note the top of the lamp is pushed down just a bit on one side.  Apparently the tops of these were cemented in place when produced.  Also almost as rare is the "Improved Crown" oil lamp burner on the lamp.
The paper label is in amazing condition.
This oil lamp is pictured in Catherine Thuro's Oil Lamps 3 book on page 107 and referred to as a paper mache lamp.

    Thanks for looking!!!!
