    Description

    See my OTHER auctions for
    a
driver side or passenger side window.
NOTE, make sure you measure your own windows, against the measurements we are showing of our windows.
We found that some of the FORD Grumman Step Vans had their front windows 4 1/2 inches shorter, than the Chevrolet versions.
We don't know if there are other versions out there or not.. If you have any information on this, we would appreciate you sharing it with us.
We have found that both versions share the exact same radius curve, and the top and bottom angle cuts are exactly the same also..
The ONLY difference is that these windows are 4 1/2 inch shorter.
    This sale is for the
    PAIR
, of  3/16 thick Plexiglas corner windows, for the vintage Grumman-Olson Kurbside step vans..
We needed a pair of front windshield corner windows, for our 1957 step van, and since we couldn't find any original ones, we decided to make our own..
We went to a great deal of work in making an exact top and bottom mould, using an original glass for a template..
We also had access to an industrial double element radiant heat lamp, (these are used in factories for drying purposes)
After heating the Plexiglass, till it was soft and pliable, we immediately put it into the mould we made
and pressed the two halves of the mould together, sandwiching the Plexiglass.. We then let it cool naturally over the course of several hours..
We made two for our own step van project, and made these others for resale..
We have noticed, from looking at another original corner glass, that it was 1/2 inch shorter than our original glass corner glass.
So we decided we better make the pair for sale, the longer version, like ours.. There may even be other variable lengths out there,
so make sure these are the sizes that you need, before bidding.. We have included how to measure these glasses, from the pictures we are providing..
These for sale measure 29 1/4 inches overall, 25 7/16 inches on the long side, as per photo, and 25 inches on the short side..
If you need them to be shorter, you yourself can easily ground them down with a power grinder or belt sander.
We also noticed, that our original corner glass'es were tinted, but these
ARE NOT.. So keep that in mind when bidding..
If you have to have tinted ones, you would have to tint them yourselves somehow.. Again, these are clear, and not tinted.
Also, the original glass'es were 1/4 inch thick, but these we made are 3'16 inch thick.. We figured they would be easier to bend, as well as easier to install..
Our local glass man said that these rubber gasket mouldings were designed to accept both the 3/16 inch as well as the 1/4 inch thick glass'es
and he himself would go with the 3/16 inch thick Plexiglass, if he were doing it.
Another important thing, your old rubber gasket strips are probably dry and brittle like ours were. Since we replaced all our windshield glass'es,
we put in all new rubber strips too, so it wasn't too much work.. But if we had had of tried to use the original rubber strips, it would have been very hard..
We don't have any rubber gasket strips for sale but we found them for sale on eBay, for far cheaper than we could find them anywhere else,
we decided not to get involved with that part of it.
The ones we used were made by the C. R. Laurence Co. of Houston Texas.

If you aren't handy with your hands, I would recommend having a glass company put these corner windows in.. They might even have special tools for this.
This auction DOES NOT include the rubber gasket mouldings, the actual van, or anything else, but the pair of Plexiglass corner windows..
We have however seen these rubber gasket mouldings on eBay for sale.
This pair of windows will be VERY CAREFULLY packed for you, and shipped out immediately on payment, EXCEPT no shipping Saturday and Sunday.
Anywhere else, please email first before bidding, as it will surely cost more than that.
