Description

Up for sale is a very unusual piece of Native American silver work.  If you like symmetry in your jewelry this is not for you.  I fell in love with this piece because it's an enigma.  I don't know if a silver smith's child, perhaps an apprentice, helped with this or what?  Some of the work, well mainly the stamping is very crude, and the rest seems very professional.  At some point in time there was one, possibly two repairs done to this piece.  It may have been when it was first made, because that area was too weak to begin with, and when I put this watch on it, there was no damage to the part that was reinforced!?  The narrow long strip repair piece has a sharp point on it, but it has never poked me, so I never bothered filling it down.  The repair isn't felt when wearing the cuff either.  There are no hallmarks or proof stamps, which on old pieces is common.  There are two stones, one tight, the other can be rocked in it's setting, but it has been that way since I bought it.  No stones have cracks and they're still nicely polished.  The cuff with the watch is 142.5 grams, and a similar watch I weighed was 35 grams, so about 107 grams of Silver and Turquoise.  The inside of the cuff is 5 7/8" with an opening of 1 3/8", for a total of  7 1/4", and 1 3/4" at it's widest.  Of all the pieces I've owned this one made it to the end, I guess I'd say it was my second favorite.  It always got a lot of interest, maybe some of that has to do with the pretty antique dial face.
This is a really nice Native American watch cuff.  I have owned it many years and it has seen moderate use. There is no major damage from the wear, just a good solid made cuff.  I have not worn it at all in a long time and it has a nice aged patina due to my neglect.  It's quick and easy to clean Sterling Silver, but since it takes so long to gain that patina, I thought I'd let the new owner decide whether to clean it or not.  I have included a photo from 2016 where it was shinny, so you can get an idea of what it looks like that way.
This is a wind up Timex, I thought it went well with this cuff.  It has a day/date complication which I don't care for much, because I have to set them when I use the watch, ocd, if it runs dead between wearing it.  The watch has been keeping good time while I have been watching it.  On my Timegrapher 1000 it has pretty good specs for it's age, plus or minus 76 to 130 seconds a day, 203 to 234 amplitude, 2.8 to 3.0 beat error in all positions.  I cannot guarantee how long this time piece will last though.  The dial face and crystal are in very good shape.
Cleaning:  The easiest and quickest way to clean Sterling Silver is with Never-Dull wading polish, under .  Use about a cotton ball size piece of the wading material and wipe the surface lightly for about 15 to 20 seconds, then wipe with a paper towel.
Fitment:  I could write a small book about this subject.  Not all cuffs are created equal, and wrist come in different shapes and sizes.  With that said, if you have worn cuffs before, especially a lot of them, then you know.  If you haven't, then I say you may be better off trying on a cuff, before purchasing it.  I'd rather lose a customer than have a dissatisfied customer.
The openings on some cuffs can be carefully bended to permanently increase or decrease the size of the opening a small amount if properly warmed up first, and only rarely.  Note:  You cannot bend a cuff putting it on and removing it each time you wear it without risk of damage!
Some minor flexing to put the cuff on and removing it will be no issue on a well designed cuff!  I use the term flexing to describe the spring action where the opening is increased a small amount to aid in getting it on and off, and yet immediately returns to its original position afterwards.  This cuff has about 1/8" flex.
My personal preference is I like to wear my cuffs a little on the loose side, if they slide up and down my wrist a couple of inches it does not bother me.  As to when I wear a metal band on my regular watches I do not like that at all, go figure.  My wrist is now 7 1/4", and this cuff does not move much at all.
I don't have a return policy, so be sure and ask any questions before purchasing this item.  Go by all the details I have included and all the photos I have shown.  I have tried to be as accurate and detailed as possible.  I smoke cigars, so I don't know if this item has retained any of that odor, probably.  Thank you for taking the time to look over this fantastic piece of Native American artistry.
