Description
This is an early non spilling traveler's pocket inkwell from the 1870s with hand blown glass bottle sealed inside a metal housing with a pair of lids.....the glass inkwell itself is hand blown in mold...flat smooth base, no issues....smooth sheared lip....clear...7/8"tall x 7/8"round....excellent condition with no chips or damage. It nests inside a brass base which has a spring loaded seal inside the lid which originally snapped tight to seal the lip of bottle from leaking (but the lid no longer snaps shut). There is an outer brass colored lid which does snap shut and can be released by pressing a little button on the outer side. This metal housing measures 1 1/4"tall x 1 3/8"round....good condition with no dents or damage. Check out the pictures. They show the details.
